5 ways
To fill your Home
with your Catholic Faith

When I became Catholic, in High School, I coveted the small things I received in youth group -

-the Holy Water bottle
-the necklace with a small wooden cross
-the little prayer card with the Hail Mary
-the handmade bookmark with the cross

These items were important to me

They were physical objects that helped surround my everyday life

With the love of Jesus that led me to my conversion.

They reminded me of how God led me to

-a stronger community
-a youth minister who showered us with love
-and a Church that constantly told me they loved me through Jesus Christ

Decades later, I still feel called to holiness when I see faith-based physical objects around my home.

They help remind me to

-take a moment to breathe
-take a moment to pray
-take a moment to remember joy, hope, & gratitude

A few years back I heard about a study

It correlated the number of books one had in their home growing up

to the level of education they would later obtain as an adult.

Could we not apply the same logic to the number of faith items we have in our home leading to a longer sense of identity in Christ?

We fill our homes with what is important to us and if you want Jesus to be the most important part of your life, it is important to include Him in your everyday life.

So, here are 5 ways to fill your home with your Catholic Faith

*Put a crucifix in every room*
*Have a space dedicated to prayer*
*Include a Mary/Saint statue in your landscaping*
*Hang Scripture on the wall*
*Have Faith centered books*

1 - Put a crucifix in every room

Ok, maybe not the bathroom…

But having a crucifix displayed in every other room of our homes is a beautiful reminder of the lengths God goes to LOVE you.

YOU - not as you feel you need to be, not as the showered, shaved, hair styled, make-up wearing you,

But in the everyday bun wearing, messy house, chaos that is YOU

Having one displayed throughout the house helps remind us that He is not just some deity we find at Church, but in our Monday thru Saturday lives too

When we are
-scrubbing dishes
-watching tv
-scrolling our social media/reading awesome blogs
-getting ready for our day
-picking up the mess
-taking care of the kids-

A crucifix gives us the opportunity to remember that every moment of our lives are for Him, Loved by Him, and can be an opportunity to Show Him gratitude.

2 - Have a space dedicated to prayer

This was a game-changer in our family.
Having a place to end our nights together to pray before bedtime was and has been a blessing since we did it.

It allowed us a place to show our family that prayer is an important part of life and an important part of who we are as a family

3 - Include a Mary/Saint statue in your landscaping

I'm a gardening nerd.
I love spending my summer days outside getting dirt under my nails.

Even if that’s not your all-time favorite thing to do, there’s something about walking up the steps to our front porch and seeing our Mary statue that helps me remember that the Lord reigns in our home.

Live in an apartment or a place you don't have a place for an outdoor Statue?

-Multiple small signs
-Kids Artwork
-Even sticky-notes
